Tsavo Leonberger Puppies

We base our breeding program on 3 criteria: health, temperament, and type. Our goal as breeders is to produce beautiful and healthy Leonbergers of sound temperament that exemplify the breed standard.

We strongly suggest visiting our home to meet us, our Leos, and see where your puppy will be raised. If you feel you could provide a great home to one of our wonderful puppies, please complete our puppy questionnaire. We also ask you submit pictures of your home, family, and other furry family members. We use your completed questionnaire with pictures as a basis for understanding your desires, preferences, lifestyle to help select the best puppy for your family.

We are extremely selective in who adopts our Tsavo puppies. We want to be assured our puppies are placed in only the best of homes where their lives will be enriched. Our puppy buyers must pass an extensive interview process. Whether your Leonberger will be used for therapy, show, rescue, drafting work, or simply your best companion, they need to be part of the family. Within your family is where the Leonberger will thrive. We do not ship our puppies without at least one family member to escort the puppy to its new home.

Why a Tsavo Puppy?

Tsavo Puppies are raised, nurtured, and loved in our home for the entire duration of their stay.

Tsavo newborn puppies receive 24/7 around the clock care.

Tsavo newborn puppies receive early neurological stimulation testing. The documented benefits of such stimulation are: improved cardiovascular performance, stronger adrenal gland function, increased tolerance to stress, and greater resistance to disease compared to non stimulated puppies.

At the appropriate age, puppies are moved to a huge playpen where they safely romp and play with various stimulating games, tunnels, and toys. When the temperature and climate is ideal, puppies will spend time outdoors getting acquainted to new sounds, smells, and sights.

By six weeks of age, Tsavo puppies will interact with visitors, encounter different floor surfaces, partake in outdoor games, experience different environments, and will be exposed to an array of sounds. This stimulation assists in assuring a strong foundation for sound and balanced temperament.

We are your puppy’s breeder for the lifetime of your Leonberger. That means that we are committed to you and your newest family member. We are accessible and encourage communication and contact throughout the lifetime of your puppy. We are here for you!

Tsavo Puppy Placement

Your puppy will be raised on a natural, holistic diet. Nutrition influences overall health, and therefore ask families to continue feeding a high-quality, age-appropriate holistic diet.

We do not place puppies solely based on gender. We ask families to remain open-minded on gender preferences. It is our highest priority to match the right temperament to the right lifestyle to ensure a happy, forever home for all.

Because we don’t breed frequently, we do not take deposits. We require deposits only after the puppies are born and we know Mom and babies are strong and healthy. The deposit will be applied towards the full purchase price. The deposit is 100% refundable if we find you do not meet the criteria we seek for a Tsavo puppy family.

Pet puppies will be placed on AKC limited registrations with non-breeding contracts. Your Leonberger can still perform in AKC obedience, title in AKC Rally, and become therapy certified. Due to the increasing amount of evidence that spay/neuter can have serious adverse health effects, we require that our pet puppies remain intact until at least 14-months of age. Details are outlined in our contract.

Show or breeding prospect puppies will be placed on AKC Full Registration and/or co-ownerships. The co-ownership may be lifted at a later date, the terms of which will be decided on an individual basis and outlined in our contract. There are many variables to co-ownerships and they can be tailored to meet any situation.

We commonly have litter themes in our puppy’s AKC registered names. Our kennel name, Tsavo, must be included in the AKC registered name. You can choose whatever call name (everyday name) you want.

Your puppy will be microchipped and pre-registered to our kennel. Puppies will receive their first series of vaccinations, health certificate, and all puppies are placed with full health history disclosure.

We make an effort to increase the odds that our puppies are free from inherited defects, by carefully screening prospective breeding stock for problems common to the Leonberger. Due to complex genetic interactions and environmental factors beyond our control, we cannot guarantee that a puppy purchased from us will be free of genetic disorders. We do provide options should a puppy be found to have such a genetic disorder, which are outlined in our puppy contract.

We have a multi-level screening process. The first step is a short online questionnaire, which gives us information about you, what you'd like in a puppy, and how we can contact you, along with your needs and preferences in your Leonberger. We make every attempt to respond individually. If you have not been contacted following an online submission, we ask that you call or e-mail us in case there was a cyber glitch.

We will require two referrals from potential families. A previous breeder and your veterinarian are ideal resources. In return, we will be happy to supply multiple references from our puppy buyers and veterinarian upon request.

We will select your puppy. We do not make decisions on puppy placements (pet, show potential, or performance prospect) until eight weeks of age. Formal structural and temperament testing will be performed near 8 weeks. Following completion of these assessments, the home/family matching process will begin.
